Flashmob Roles
Dancer
We need dancers of all ages, including parents. More experienced, confident and older dancers will perform the whole routine. Younger or more inexperienced dancers will come into the performance at later stages, so they don't need to memorise as many steps.
Actor
We need actors of all ages. The actors will be starting off the Flashmob. The children/teens involved can decide what they will be doing, and this can be anything for which they have the props at home that can be transported to the site. Some examples include painting, art creations, science experiments, playdough on a tray, using a blackboard, working on a laptop, playing board games, playing musical instruments, balancing on a surf board, miming cooking (eg stiring a pot), etc.
Circus Performer or Gymnast
We want any kids with skills in circus performance or gymnastics who can do a short demonstration e.g. cartwheels, juggling, unicycles. Please note that the surface at Fed Square is hard!
Whistle blower
We need a few kids or parents who own loud whistles, and can use them to attract the attention of the crowd just as the dancing portion of the flashmob is starting.
Videoing
We need several people who can video the event, so we have a few different angles as well as video of the crowd.
Editing
Anyone with video editing skills who can help edit the footage after the event.
Photography
We would like some photographs taken during the event.
Sound system
We need people with skills and equipment - a sound system to play the music, and the skill to set it up!
Banner holder
People are needed to hold banners. These will be made by the kids, and each will have a word related to home education on it.
Petition
We need adults and children to hang around just after the performance to talk to people if they are approached, and to take signatures for our petition.
Support person
Support people will be needed to transport equipment, set up props on the day and generally help the day run smoothly.
Banner maker
We need people to make the banners that will be displayed. They will be made on calico fabric, and each will have one word written on it relating to home education, chosen by the banner maker. The banner can also be decorated e.g. with hand prints.
Dancing coordinator
We need either older teens or adults who can coordinate the timing of the performance, and send groups on at the right time.
